Japan's Sakata Inx to set up new unit in India

Japanese ink manufacturer Sakata Inx today said it will invest Rs 60 crore to set
up a new facility in India which will be used for global sourcing.

The company said its fully-owned indian subsidiary Sakata Inx (India) has acquired 20 acres land at Panoli in Gujarat for the new facility.

Sakata said it would make the investment in two phases. While the first phase, which will see investment of Rs 30 crore, will be completed by 2007, the plant will be fully operational by 2009.

The plant will produce high-quality gravure printing inks, which would be further customised to cater to the specific demands of the packaging industry, it said.

"The Panoli plant will focus on manufacturing news ink, thereby targeting the vast number of publishing and media houses and customer base located in western india," V K Seth, managing director of Sakata India, said.

The company will also manufacture UV and digital inks to penetrate further in the Indian market, Seth said.

The plant would be a comprehensive manufacturing base for all type of inks for the domestic as well as international markets that include West Asia, Africa and the CIS countries, an official release said.
