JBM Auto has said it will increase the capacity at its plants in Chennai with an investment of Rs 100 crore.
Nishant Arya, executive director, JBM Group said that the company has four facilities around Chennai - two in Maramalai Nagar, one in Oragadam and Sriperumbudur. All the four locations are key automotive clusters in the state.
The proposed investment would take up the capacity from 75,000 components to 100,000 a day, said Arya.
Products manufactured in these facilities include chassis and suspension systems, exhaust systems, welded assemblies, cross car beams and others.
These plants cater to major OEMs including Ford, Renault-Nissan, Daimler, TAFE, Hyundai, Ashok Leyland, Ashok Leyland-Nissan and Royal Enfield.

Of the four plants, two come under JBM Auto System, a 73.89% subsidiary of JBM Auto. JBM Auto is the flagship company of the $1.2 billion JBM Group that has a diversified portfolio in the fields of automotive, engineering & design services and renewables.
Besides catering to the domestic market, these plants also cater to some major OEMs in Europe, ASEAN countries and in South America.

The company said it could realise the investment in 2015-16.
JBM Auto reported a 20% growth in profit during the nine months ended December 31, 2014 at Rs 1,186.71 crore from Rs. 987.96 crore a year ago.
