Construction equipment maker, JCB India, has inaugurated its second manufacturing unit at Talegaon near Pune.

The facility, which saw a total investment of Rs 7.5 crore, would manufacture around 12,000 machines per year, once fully operational.

Addressing mediapersons, JCB Excavators chief executive John Patterson said that the new plant will manufacture the company's six different heavy line machines.

JCB's first manufacturing plant in Haryana is undergoing an expansion at an investment of Rs 2.5 crore. The plant exports around 65 per cent of its production to countries like Indonesia and Malaysia, while the same is expected to be around 50 per cent in the case of the new plant.

According to Sondhi, the company is planning another expansion in Pune next year.

"We have sought 100 acres in the Talegaon industrial area from the Maharashtra Industrial Development Corporation for the purpose," he added. Maharashtra chief minister Vilasrao Deshmukh launched the new plant last Friday.
