A Jet Airways bus rammed into a parked aircraft at the Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose International (NSCI) airport, in Kolkata, on Tuesday.  No one has been killed or injured, but the aircraft has sustained extensive damages, rendering it unfit to fly for the next 48 hours, airport officials said. The aircraft belonged to the national air carrier, Air India.

The incident took place at 6:45 AM when the driver of the bus, which is used to ferry Jet Airways’ cabin crew in the airport, lost control and rammed into to the aircraft. It was scheduled to leave for Silchar later in the day.

An airport official termed the incident as a human error and said that further investigations were being conducted. “The driver was on his night shift. While driving, he fell asleep and lost control. We are taking stock of the situation,” said an airport official. He also said that the driver, Momon Ali, was being questioned and has been sent for a medical check.

“A coach transporting Jet Airways’ cabin crew at the Kolkata Airport accidentally collided with a stationary aircraft of another airline. No one was injured and the company has started investigations in to the incident,” said a Jet Airways spokesperson.
