Jet Airways net loss widens 6% to Rs 406 cr

Jet Airways, one of the largest private sector carriers' net loss widened 5.76 per cent from Rs 384.53 crore for quarter ended September 30, 2008 to Rs 406.69 crore for the quarter ended September 30, 2009.

Its total income decreased 27 per cent from Rs 3258.45 crore in the second quarter of 2008 to Rs 2380.97 crore  in the second quarter of 2009.

In a result press release, the company said that it suffered losses mainly on account of lower yields due to intense competition and over capacity in the market besides high interest cost.

In addition, disruption of operations due to pilots strike also contributed to the losses.
