Jet Airways would be increasing the fare of domestic tickets within a month, a senior company official said today.

"There are plans to increase our ticket fares within a month in the domestic segment," Jet Airways' Vice-President (passenger sales) Sonu Kripalani said on the sidelines of a Bombay Chamber of Commerce and Industry seminar here.

The increase in the ticket prices would be in the range of Rs 200 to Rs 500, she added.

"The market is still growing at 30 per cent and the hike is needed to continue the healthy growth of the industry," Kripalani said. On the leading private carrier's expansion plans, she said the focus would be expanding in the international sectors. "We will add new destinations such as Shanghai in China, San Francisco and New York from New Delhi," she added.

In the domestic market, Jet will be expanding more in the tier II cities as the metros were already saturated, she said.

Jet Airways will also increase its flights on the metro routes in the non-peak hours since there was a lot of demand and the response was very good, the official said.

"We have flights flying to metros in the afternoon hours and the response is really good," Kripalani said.

The Naresh Goyal-promoted airline was now concentrating more on synergising the schedules.

"We are trying to consolidate JetLite before further expansion of routes," she added.
