Jetro to set up Japanese industrial zone in A'bad

Gujarat government-owned enterprises including Gujarat Industrial Development Corporation (GIDC), Gujarat Infrastructure Development Board (GIDB) and industrial extension bureau (INDEXT-B) has signed a memorandum of understanding with Japan External Trade Organisation (JETRO) for setting up of special Japanese industrial zone near Ahmedabad.

While GIDC will develop a special Japanese industrial zone near Ahmedabad, Designing, infrastructural facilities and the subsequent vision of the industrial zone will be developed by GIDB. INDEXT-B will handle the work of facilitating the Japanese investors and delegations of various Japanese companies in Gujarat, a government statement said. A high-level delegation of JETRO met Gujarat chief minister, Narendra Modi on Tuesday.

 

Japan has also planned an 'eco-friendly city' in Sanand and Changodar. Meanwhile, expressing its keenness in setting up a high-tech textile machinery manufacturing project in Gujarat, a delegation led by Wu Xiuhua, vice president of China TexMatch, a group company of China's Jingwei group met chief minister Narendra Modi.

According to an official release by the state government, Xiuhua praised the state government's approach on creating a favourable atmosphere for the investment. "The company's desire of setting up a high-tech project in Gujarat can be seen as a positive outcome of Chief Minister's recent visit to China," the statement further stated.
