With the focus on better water management to make the state self reliant in water resources by 2030, Gujarat government is roping in major water management companies like the Jindal Group. Jindal Water is all set to work on projects worth Rs 7000 crores in various districts across the state.

Together, JITF Water Infrastructure, JITF Urban Infrastructure and Jindal Manila Water joint venture are going to invest Rs 7035 crores in desalination plant projects, bulk water supply projects, municipal solid waste management and waste to energy projects. "We are very committed to infrastructure development and investments in Gujarat and the Jindal Group has been investing and operating the state for many decades. We are very confident that this exposure will only increase in the years to come as far JITF Water Infrastructure and JITF Urban Infrastructure is concerned.", said Allard M Nooy, chief executive officer, JITF Water Infrastructure and JITF Urban Infrastructure.

Gujarat plans to implement water and waste water management projects in 50 towns across the state this year. The state water supply department has drawn up plans to use waste water from cities for irrigation purposes after treatment. The Jindal Manila joint venture(JV) is working with Gujarat Urban Development Mission (GUDM) to design, construct water supply and treatment system including distribution network for 24 x 7 water supply and non-revenue-water reduction under long term concession framework on design, build, finance, operate transfer (DBFOT) basis in Anand, Nadiad and a few other areas. The second phase of this project would involve design and construction of the sewage network with treatment and recycling with tertiary treatment and pipeline network and sales of Industrial grade water on DBFOT basis.

JITF Water Infrastructure is working with the Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation (AMC) on sewage treatment and recycling projects. It is also working with Gujarat Infrastructure Dev. Board (Industries & Mines)on Rs 4000 crore worth bulk water supply distribution project for special investment regions (SIR) and special economic zones (SEZ) on build, own, operate, transfer (BOOT) basis. Jindal Water Infrastructure is likely to start work on desalination projects at Dahej SEZ and the PCPIR zone.
