In view of the low demand in the state for white cement despite serious efforts by the company, JK White Cement Works, a subsidiary of the JK group, has set a growth target of just 8 per cent this year.

A regional meet of the company's resellers and dealers was held in Agra recently, during which JK White Cement's growth plans for the current year were announced.

Addressing the over 250 dealers and resellers assembled in the meet, Mohan Sharma, DGM, sales, JK White Cement Works, said the company was making efforts to raise the demand for white cement in Uttar Pradesh as well as the country but growth was slow because people were yet to be made aware of the utility of white cement in construction work.

He said in view of the slow growth experienced in the white cement sector, the countrywide target for white cement sales this year had been set at 250,000 tonnes against the previous year's target of 220,000 tonnes.

In Uttar Pradesh and Uttaranchal, the target had been set at 30,000 tonnes while the previous year's target had been 26,000 tonnes.

According to Sharma, the company's distributors and dealers were asked to double their efforts towards marketing white cement and other allied products to meet the raised sales target.
