JK Lakshmi starts production at Ahmedabad plant

With a view to strengthening its footprints in Gujarat, JK Lakshmi Cement Ltd, one of the leading cement manufacturers in the country, today commenced commercial production of its plant located at Motibhoyan near Ahmedabad.

The Rs. 1,400 crore JK Lakshmi Cement has invested Rs. 100 crore for the plant near Ahmedabad, which has a production capacity of 0.6 million tonnes. "The newly launched unit will supplement the existing plant of the company at Sirohi in Rajasthan to take the total capacity of the company to 5 million tonnes", said Vinita Singhania, managing director of the company.

The new plant commissione today has already stabilised production and has reached 100 per cent capacity utilisation. Apart from this, the company already has three Ready Mix Concrete (RMC) plants one each at Vadodara, Surat and Ahmedabad.

 

“Our new plant close to Ahmedabad is a step towards strengthening our footprint in Gujarat. We are now poised to play a major role in the infrastructure growth of emerging Gujarat. JK Lakshmi Cement is already a popular brand and a proud partner in the development of Vibrant Gujarat for the last 27 years.” said S. Chouksey, whole-time director of the company.

Talking about the other expansion plans of the company, Singhania said the work for company's 2.7 million tonnes greenfield cement plant at Durg in Chattisgarh has already been commenced and the plant would be operational by 2011. The company plans to pump in Rs. 1,100 crore for Chhattisgarh project.
