JK Paper today reported a 79.71 per cent rise in net profit for the March quarter at Rs 27.10 crore against Rs 15.08 crore in the year-ago period.

It also reported an 11.65 per cent jump in net sales for the fourth quarter at Rs 294.21 crore as against Rs 263.52 crore during the year-ago period, JK Paper said in a statement.

For the 2009-10 fiscal, its net profit jumped over twofold to Rs 91.03 crore over Rs 38.01 crore in FY09. Its net sales stood at Rs 1,105.53 crore as against Rs 1,077.18 crore, a rise of 2.63 per cent, it added.

Commenting on the results, Managing Director Harsh Pati Singhania said: "The growth in operating profit was possible due to increased capacity utilisation across all production lines, sales of more value added products in the packaging board segment and strategic purchase of pulp at lower prices." The government's stimulus measures have also helped the industry in overcoming the earlier slowdown, he noted.
