The government has appointed Joeman Thomas as the acting managing director of ONGC Videsh (OVL), the overseas arm of state-owned Oil and Natural Gas Corporation (ONGC).
Thomas is director (exploration) in OVL and will hold the additional charge of the company after R S Butola moved to Indian Oil Corporation (IOC) as chairman, the company said in a press statement here.
A post graduate in Applied Geology from IIT, Powai, Bombay, he joined as a graduate trainee in ONGC in 1976.
Thomas became director (exploration) of OVL in February 2007 and his responsibilities include exploration as well as acquisition of properties.
