John Deere launches 60 HP tractor in India

John Deere, a leader in the field of agricultural equipment today introduced a new 60 Hp tractor model 5060E in Pune. This tractor is powered by a fuel-efficient, three-cylinder John Deere diesel engine - 3029T and is equipped with power steering with tilt facility, self equalizing oil-immersed disc brakes, side-shift gears, mobile-charging point, Electrical quick raise and lower hydraulic system (EQRL). John Deere produces over 12 variants of tractors in India.

"John Deere is bringing advanced technology to farmers in India, helping them to be more productive and cost effective .This new 60-Hp tractor model 5060E offers state–of-the-art features that help customers be more productive and cost effective," said Naredar Ghuman, vice president, sales and marketing, John Deere India.

 

Ghuman added, "Considering the response to our products, we are planning to set up another manufacturing plant in northern region of India. The location will be finalised by end of this year. In this facility, tractors having capacity below 50 horse powers will be produced. We have already expanded capacity of Pune plant from 35000 to 80000 units per year. Last year we manufactured 48, 200 units from Pune plant. We have almost 100 per cent localisation for this facility."

Recently, John Deere has set up a plant at Vadodara in Gujarat to manufacture micro irrigation systems. These systems are already introduced in states of Gujarat, Madhya Pradesh, Rajasthan, Maharashtra, Andhra Pradesh, Karnataka and Tamilnadu. A new plant to manufacture self propelled grain harvesters is being set up at Sirhind, near Patiala in Punjab.

The company would be investing Rs 450 crore for the expansion in India. John Deere's 89-hp model is imported and it sells around 20 models per year. The company plans to sell 1000 units of newly launched model and already received bookings for 100 units, company officials said.

Pune facility produces higher horsepower segment of the Indian market with products in the 35 hp to 89 hp range.

Currently, John Deere India has expanded its network to 19 regional offices and over 410 authorized dealers, with over 200 high quality component manufacturers as authorized suppliers. Last year, John Deere has exported over 16000 tractors from India to over 70 countries.
