JSW Steel, the country’s third-largest steel maker, today said its second-quarter net profit rose 15.64 per cent to Rs 373.26 crore, compared to Rs 322.75 crore in the year-ago period. Net sales stood at Rs 5,908 crore, against Rs 4,729.67 crore a year earlier.
The company said the September quarter witnessed the highest ever sales in both value and volume terms. “There has been nine per cent growth in sales and two per cent growth in volumes in the second quarter,” said Seshagiri Rao, joint managing director and group CFO, JSW Steel. Total income was Rs 5,972.2 crore, compared to Rs 4,756.5 crore in the same period last year.
