JSW Steel aims overs 30mn tonnes capacity by 2020

Announcing the firm's plans during the inauguration of two JSW Shoppe, exclusive steel retail outlets here, company's Joint Managing Director and CEO Y Siva Sagar Rao said it was in the process of setting up 10 MT capacity plants in West Bengal and Jharkand.    

"In West Bengal, the company had acquired land and was trying to ensure raw material security, while in Jharkand it was in the process of procuring land," he said, adding for the West Bengal plant they had tied up with mine owners in Orissa to procure raw material. In Jharkand, they had acquired licence for mining and were trying to procure land.    

 

An investment of Rs 40,000 crore each would be pumped into these new plants, he said.    

In Vijaynagar and Salem, the firm was looking at augmenting its current capacity of 4 MT and 1 MT.

The expansion was aimed at catering to the expected growth in steel consumption in the domestic market, said JSW Group President (Marketing) Jayant Acharya.
