JSW Steel, GSK Pharma & Sun Pharma Q2 results

JSW Steel Q2 up
 
Sajjan Jindal-promoted JSW Steel, the country's fourth biggest steel maker, has posted its highest ever net profit at Rs 511.23 crore in the quarter ended September 30, 2007, a 48 per cent increase over that in the corresponding period last year.
 
Total income increased 18.76 per cent to Rs 2,218.77 crore in the period. The JSW board on Thursday also approved the merger of Southern Iron and Steel Company with JSW Steel.
 
GSK Pharma net slips
 
Impacted by the sale of its fine chemical business, Glaxosmithkline Pharmaceuticals has posted a net profit of Rs 249.01 crore for the quarter ended September 2007, 12.75 per cent down, as compared with Rs 285.43 crore during the corresponding previous quarter.
 
Sun Pharma net up
 
Mumbai: Business from global markets powered Sun Pharmaceutical Industries net profit to Rs 228.9 crore in the quarter ended September 30, 2007, a 17 per cent increase over the Rs 192.8 crore registered in the corresponding quarter last year.
 
As per the consolidated figures, net sales increased by 25 per cent to Rs 667.9 crore, from Rs 536.2 crore. Global drug sales grew 38 per cent.
