Jubilant, Kennamtel Widia, NIIT and Ramco results

Jubilant Organosys registered a 107 per cent growth in net profit at Rs 28.2 crore in the first quarter of 2004-05 compared with Rs 13.6 crore in the same period last year.

Net sales increased 46 per cent to Rs 265 crore (Rs 112.9 crore). Revenues from international operations increased 77 per cent to Rs 88.1 crore (Rs 49.7 crore).

Pharmaceuticals and life sciences chemicals sales increased 62 per cent to Rs 112.9 crore while industrial chemicals business rose 49 per cent to Rs 112.6 crore (Rs 75.6 crore).

Kennametal in the black, net at Rs 25 cr

Kennametal Widia India posted a Rs 24.8 crore net profit for its fiscal ended June 2004. The results were not comparable with that of the previous year due to a change in its financial year.

The company reported a 18-month summary of its results last June. Then Kennametal Widia had recorded a Rs 46.7 crore net loss. For the year ended June 2004, the company's sales stood at Rs 224.9 crore, which included eight month sales of the divested mining and construction tools business .

For the 18 month ended June 2003, the company recorded sales of Rs 275.9 crore.

NIIT net surges to Rs 7.5 cr in Q1
IT education major NIIT has reported a 12-fold increase in net profit at Rs 7.5 crore during the first quarter of the current financial year.

NIIT Technologies, the demerged entity of NIIT Ltd, posted a six-fold increase in net profit to Rs 13.4 crore for the quarter ended June 30, 2004.

The global system wide revenues of NIIT and its subsidiaries increased 10 per cent to Rs 152 crore (Rs 138.7 crore). The company also clocked a 126 basis points increase in operating margins to 13 per cent (11 per cent).

"Higher productivity along with less than proportionate increase in operating costs have contributed significantly to this growth," NIIT chairman Rajendra S Pawar said.

NIIT Technologies reported a 23 per cent increase in revenues to Rs 127.9 crore. Arvind Thakur, CEO, NIIT Technologies said: "Financial services contributed 50 per cent of the total revenue where as the transport sector accounted for 24 per cent and retail segment for 9 per cent of the total revenue."

Ramco Inds net up 15% to Rs 8.15 cr
Ramco Industries recorded a 15 per cent jump in net profit to Rs 8.15 crore in the first quarter ended June 30, 2004, compared with Rs 7.07 crore in the corresponding quarter the previous year.
