Global advertising firm Dentsu today announced appointment of Rohit Ohri as the executive chairman for its India operations.
Ohri, who was Managing Partner of leading advertising agency JWT India, will report to Dentsu Inc's Senior Vice-President, Yuzuru Kato, based at the company's headquarters in Tokyo.
In his new role Ohri will lead all group companies of Dentsu India.
"Working in close conjunction with the leadership team in India and Tokyo, he will be responsible for the organisation's strategy and growth in India," Dentsu said in a statement.
He will also lead the charge on the group's various initiatives in corporate branding, organisational development and people management in compliance with Dentsu Inc's best practices across its global network, it added.
Ohri has nearly 24 years of experience in advertising communications, 21 of which were spent at JWT India.
"Following his very successful seven-year stint as head of the PepsiCo-JWT relationship in Central Asia, he was designated Managing Partner for JWT Delhi in 2005," the statement said.
Last month, Dentsu had announced five senior-level appointments at Dentsu Marcom, one of its full-service agencies.
Japan's Dentsu Inc commenced operations in India in October, 2003, by setting up a joint venture with the Mogae Group. In 2011, the parent company acquired the India businesses and the new Dentsu India Group became a 100% subsidiary of Dentsu, Tokyo.
The Dentsu India Group comprises Dentsu Communications, Dentsu Marcom, Dentsu Creative Impact and Dentsu MediaTech and a digital agency, Clickstreamers.
