K C Chakrabarty elected as IBA chairman

Indian Banks' Association (IBA) today named Punjab National Bank Chairman and Managing Director K C Chakrabarty as its chairman for the financial year 2009-10.     

The decision was taken at the IBA's management committee meeting held in Mumbai today.     

IBA has named three other leading bankers--Union Bank of India Chairman M V Nair, State Bank of India Chairman O P Bhatt and HDFC Managing Director Aditya Puri, as deputy chairmen, an IBA spokesperson told PTI.     

Chakrabarty will be succeeding T S Narayanasami, chairman of Bank of India, as IBA chairman.     

IBA is the national body of Indian banks and comprises lenders from public, private and foreign sectors.
