Kalpataru becomes first Indian co to supply towers to US firm

Kalpataru Power Transmission Ltd, Rs. 3,500 crore plus Kalpataru Group company, has become the first Indian corporate to supply power transmission towers to US.

The company has already dispatched a chunk of transmission towers to US recently.

Kalpataru has bagged an order for 3,000 to 4,000 tonnes of transmission towers from US-based company. “We have already dispatched 300 tonnes to US. Although many Indian companies have clinched such orders from many overseas companies, it is for the first time that any Indian company has received order for power transmission towers from US-based company,"”said a senior official of Kalpataru Group, who was recently in Gujarat.

 

However, the official refused to divulge the details of the US company and the value of the order.

“We are also in the process of getting similar orders from other overseas companies and soon we will make announcement to this effect,” the official added.

Sources close to the development told Business Standard that Kalpataru Power Transmission has bagged order from US-based Kenny Construction Company. Kenny will in turn supply transmission towers sourced from Kalpataru to another US company Trailco, sources added.

Kalpataru Group has recently diversified into warehousing and logistics services sector. The company to roll out 40 logistic parks across the country over the next three years, of which 12 to 15 are likely to come up by March 2009.

Apart from this, it has entered into a 50:50 joint venture with NG

Realty, a group company of Ahmedabad based NG Group for its upcoming special economic zone project in Ahmedabad - Gallops Engineering SEZ.

A Memorandum Of Understanding (MoU) has also been signed in this regard.
