Kalpataru Power Transmission (KPTL) today said that it has secured three orders worth over Rs 550 crore from the Kenya Electricity Transmission Company (KETRACO) and Parbati Koldam Transmission Company.

Kalpataru Power Transmission Ltd (KPTL) has signed two contracts with Kenya Electricity Transmission Company (KETRACO), Kenya, for turnkey construction of its transmission network.

The combined value of both the projects is Rs 453 crore and the contractual completion deadline is 27 months.

The projects are being funded by the Agence Francaise de Development and European Investment Bank.

KPTL Executive Director Manish Muhnot said, "We are proud to be associated with KETRACO on the first 400-KV line in the country, which will provide much-needed infrastructure to make Kenya self-reliant in addressing its energy needs."

Kenya government-owned KETRACO designs, constructs, operates and maintains high voltage electricity transmission lines, which will form the backbone of the proposed National Electricity Grid.

KPTL has also received another order from Parbati Koldam Transmission Company, a joint venture between PowerGrid Corporation and Reliance ADAG, for supply and erection of the Koldam-Ludhiana Transmission Line. The total value of the order is Rs 100 crore.

The current order book of KPTL stands at over Rs 5,200 crore. "Our current order book is very healthy in terms of profitability and judicious mix of domestic and overseas projects," Muhnot added.

Shares of the KPTL were trading at Rs 205.35, up 0.39 per cent on the Bombay Stock Exchange today.
