Automobile component manufacturers of Kanpur are showing signs of comeback after recording consistent fall over the past two years. During the past three months, there has been a significant rise in orders. In fact, the demand has increased over three-fold.

This increase is being attributed to the rise in demand for some of the models of Maruti, for which a large number of local auto component manufacturers supply ancillaries. The city supplies auto components to leading companies like Tata Motors in Lucknow, Holland Tractors in Noida, Tata plants in Jamshedpur and LML.

Netplast managing director RK Agrawal told Business Standard that prior to recession, the firm supplied components for around 9,000 vehicles. The demand fell to a mere 1,000 vehicles in December but bounced back to around 7,000 vehicles last month.

Rajshekhar Nayar, who supplies metal parts for seats to Tata Motors said he supplied metal parts for around 10,000 seats prior to slowdown while no orders were received in November and December. Now the company has received orders for another 4000 seat metal components.
