Industrialists of Chaubepur (Kanpur rural) have contributed Rs 1 crore to build a power sub-station in the area. |
Firms are suffering heavy losses due to irregular power supply in the region. The contribution was made by the Indian Industries Association (IIA) on behalf of the industrialists. |
"The industrial area of Chaubepur has units ranging from engineering to detergents. The power requirement of these industries is huge, and due to the erratic supply of power in the region they are incurring heavy losses," said DS Verma, executive director, IIA. |
It is proposed to construct an independent feeder and 33 kv sub-station. The contribution was made under the 'Assistance to States for developing Export Infrastructure and Allied Activities' (ASIDE) scheme of the Government of India. Under which the burden of investment is shared by the Central government, corresponding state government and the industries together. |
"Once the sub-station is built, a line from the same will be going to this area which in turn will minimize the power problems of the manufacturers there," said Verma. |
The cheque of Rs 1 crore was handed over by SB Jakhotia and MS Monot of Indian Industries Association (IIA) to Ashok Kumar Khurana, Chairman, Uttar Pradesh Power Corporation Limited (UPPCL). |
To look into the future course of action of the said project, a meeting of the principal secretaries of department like Small Scale and Export Promotion will be held on 22nd of this month. |
"If everything falls into place, then the construction of the sub-station will start in another three to six months time," explained Verma. |
He also said that IIA will keep a vigil over the proceeding on the said matter and will also keep on pursuing the concerned officials. |
