The Hubli Electricity Supply Company (Hescom) has taken steps to provide round-the-clock power supply to water installations in the twin cities of Hubli-Dharwad. Hescom Managing director Pankajkumar Pandey told reporters at meet-the-press organised by District Journalists’ Association at Hubli said, uninterrupted power supply is being provided to all water installations to enable the Water Board to supply adequate water to the residents of Hubli-Dharwad during summer.
“If there are any power supply-related complaints, board officers should immediately bring them to the notice of Hescom,” he said.
Pandey said, various sources are yet to pay Hescom arrears to the tune of Rs 1,470 crore. “Hescom is to get arrears of Rs 1,036 crore from IP set users, Rs 53 crore from high-tension power consumers, including industrialists, and Rs 381 crore from domestic users and other small unit owners,” he added.
He said, about 11 villages, most of them from the Uttara Kannada district, are yet to get power due to various technical reasons. Plans are afoot to provide them power.
Referring to the collection of security deposit, he said Hescom is collecting additional security deposit from consumers as per instructions of the government.
To a query, Pandey said enquiry will be made on complaints that original deposit amount of consumers is not being taken into consideration while collecting the additional security deposit. “If there is a zero deposit, then it might be the fault of Hescom, and we will check it up,” he added.
The MD said, Rs 32 crore has been set aside for maintaining 90,000 feeders in all the seven districts (covered by Hescom) to ensure uninterrupted power supply.
Thanks to the measures taken to plug the loopholes in the process of revenue collection, Hescom’s revenues have increased to Rs 136 crore this year as against last year’s Rs 99 crore.
