Power transmission equipment maker KEC International Ltd has bagged its largest ever international order—a turnkey project by the Egyptian Electricity Transmission Company.
The order is valued at Rs 636 crore and will be funded by the European Investment Bank and the Egyptian National Bank, the company said in a filing to the Bombay Stock Exchange. This is also the largest ever order given to an Indian transmission company in Egypt.
The turnkey project is for the design, supply and construction of 500kV double circuit lines to be completed in two lots. The total length of lines is 196 km and the project is scheduled to be completed in 24 months.
KEC has also bagged a Rs 42 crore order to be executed in Queensland, Australia, marking its re-entry into that country. The two orders along with the recent order of Rs 88 crore in Tajikistan together account for Rs 766 crore worth of contracts for KEC.
