Kelly Services, the $4.4-billion US-based staffing company, is ramping up its operations in India by opening four more offices in the major Indian metros.

It is also bringing in its Kelly Scientific Research (KSR) services to India to provide a pool of researchers to pharma and biotech companies looking for temporary staff.

"At present, the concept of temping or contracting is not so common in India, but companies in sectors like insurance, banking, retail and even biotech are increasingly realising the importance of temping. So, in order to broadbase its presence, Kelly Services will be opening four more offices in main Indian cities," Purnima Das, managing director of Kelly Services India told Business Standard.

At present, Kelly has two offices in Bangalore, two in Mumbai and one in Delhi, with over 42 companies as clients. Apart from this, the company has a presence in nearly 28 companies that have about 2,300 offices.

"There is a growing opportunity for staffing companies in the pharma and biotech industry, as many firms are looking for short-to-medium-term researchers for product development. To tap this market we plan to introduce KSR, whereby we will provide researchers, radiologists, microbiologists to various pharma, biotech and pathology centres," Das said.

Kelly Services provides solutions for permanent recruitment processes like detailed assignment briefing, candidate sourcing and psychometric appraisals.

It also provides temporary staffing facilities for special projects, peak periods and leave and illness coverage and partnered staffing, whereby it becomes an on-site people management partner of a company, taking care of its recruitment and administrative functions.

Its other services include payroll services and module recruitment, which is a professional recruitment service. Kelly Pinpoint, KellyAssess and Kelly Data Entry Customiser are other trademark solutions that Kelly provides to companies to help them assess staff capabilities.

The company is also planning to enhance its call centre staffing solution called KellyConnect, which assesses and prepares prospective staff for absorption in call centres through job simulations.
