KENERSYS invests Rs 50 cr in new facility

Wind turbine manufacturer KENERSYS, a part of the Kalyani Group, has set up a new facility at Baramati near Pune with an investment of Rs 50 crore. The new plant would manufacture large multi-megawatt turbines, with 2-Mw rated power. The company will manufacture 250 turbines every year, with a total power generation capacity of 500 Mw. KENERSYS has invested Rs 450 crore in India and Europe only on research and development for this project. The plant was inaugurated today at Baramati.

B N Kalyani, chairman, KENERSYS Group and chairman & managing director, Bharat Forge Ltd, said, “Our aim is to produce high end equipments in Asia. Renewable energy represents the next big frontier in technology, and wind power is one of the fastest growing energy sources in the world. We have innovated our patented technology and invested Rs 450 crore in India and Europe only on research and development for this project.” An additional investment of Rs 150 crore will be made by end of the next year. The company manufactures two turbines — 2 Mw and 2.5 Mw — for Indian and European markets, respectively.
