Khurana exits Reliance Comm

The key person behind Reliance's telecom venture B D Khurana has resigned from the Anil Ambani group, citing personal reasons. The resignation was effective January 31, 2006.
 
At the time of resignation, he was the president of Reliance Communications' wholly owned submarine cable, Flag Telecom.
 
When contacted, Khurana told Business Standard that he had put in his papers by mid-December, even though he was only relieved from official duties late last month.
 
When asked about his future plans, he declined to comment, stating: "I can't discuss them right now."
 
B D Khurana, popularly known as BDK, is considered the architect behind Reliance's telecom venture. He is also credited with setting up the first private sector telecom company in the country, Punjab Wireless Systems, of which he was the CEO.
 
Prior to joining Reliance, Khurana worked with Bharti Televentures as president, networks. He had also worked with companies like DSC Communications and Optel Telecommunications.
