Two-wheeler company Kinetic Motors on Thursday unveiled its new range of Italiano series scooters. |
As a precursor to the launch, the company also changed its logo to reflect a premium and aspirational brand image. The launch is the result of the acquisition-cum-alliance between Kinetic Motors and Italian scooter company Italjet. |
Through this deal, Kinetic Motors bought the rights to manufacture and sell seven of their models in India and abroad. The Italiano series comprises seven new scooter designs that have previously been bestsellers abroad and wilfroml now come to India for the first time. |
The company is also revamping its distribution network by opening 45-50 new dealers in the top 30 cities in the country. |
Offering a complete new range from classic, sporty radical to vintage retro designs and engine specifications ranging from 50 cc to 250 cc, these scooters are likely to revive scooter industry where the scooter format has not changed for a long time. |
The scooters will be launched in phases over the next couple of years, with the first launch coming in a month's time. Kinetic has acquired the global distribution rights for the scooters and is chalking out an export plan for these scooters which have worldwide acceptance. |
Seven new models - Millennium, Formula, Velocifero, Euro, Dragster, Torpedo and Jupiter - were unveiled in prices ranging from Rs 30,000 to Rs 50,000. |
Sulajja F Motwani, joint managing director, Kinetic Motors said, "The company plans to sell 1 lakh units of mopeds and motorcycles this fiscal, and in scooters, 1.35 lakh units. It expects 20 per cent to 25 per cent growth in domestic sales." |
She also said that the company intends to export 35,000 units, which includes motorcycles and scooters. |
Motwani said that the company is planning to focus on the scooter business and has no plans to exit from the motorcycle business. |
While Millennium will be launched in six to eight weeks, Euro will launched before Diwali. |
"The rest of the products will also be launched in phased manner but certain products are exclusively for the foreign markets," Motwani said. |
