Director General of Civil Aviation on Saturday suspended the licence of Kingfisher Airlines after the airline failed to submit a concrete revival plan. The regulator had served a show cause notice to the the airline on October 5 following a strike by pilots and engineers.
The airline was supposed to reply to show cause notice by Saturday but instead Kingfisher sent a letter seeking more time to respond.
"The operating permit has been suspended till Kingfisher submits a concrete revival plan ensuring safe reliable efficient and sustainable schedule. We have decided to suspend the permit after examining its reply," a DGCA official said.
On Friday Kingfisher had extended the partial lockout until Tuesday anticipating a breakthrough in a meeting with striking employees on Monday.
"We had a positive meeting with employee representatives on October 17th and are hopeful of reaching common ground when we meet again next week. Currently, we anticipate resuming operations on November 6th, subject to our resumption plan being reviewed and approved by the DGCA," the airline had said in a statement on Friday.
