Gandhidham-based Kiran Group, a leading terminal owner and storage handling agents, is planning to set up a Container Freight Station which will be set up on the National Highway-8. |
The group is also active in clearing and forwarding services at Kandla and Mundra ports, handling and storage of liquid chemicals and edible oils at Kandla port and transportation of liquid cargo and hazardous chemicals across India. |
Manish Gupta, Director, Kiran Group, told Business Standard, "We are planning to set up a container terminal at Gandhidham with a capacity to handle 40,000 containers per annum. The CFS will be located at a strategic point on NH-8 so that it can have an easy access to Kandla as well as Mundra ports." |
"The total investment in the CFS will be around Rs 20 crore, excluding the land acquisition cost, and of that Rs 15 crore will be invested in developing the first phase of CFS. At a later stage we are planning to invest Rs 5 crore in the capacity expansion of the CFS. The CFS will be located on a sprawling 11.5 acres," Gupta said. |
On the other facilities of the group, Gupta said, "Our chemical terminal at Kandla has 14 MS & SS tanks of capacities varying from 500 kilo litres (KL) to 3,200 KL, Our experience is in efficient handling of all kind of hazardous chemicals like Neptha, SKO, ACN, VAM, HNP, aniline oil, benzene, toluene and such others. The total capacity of our chemical terminal is about 1.5 million MT. |
"Our edible oil terminal Kandla is just about 200 metre from the oil jetty. We are having nine tanks of different capacities varying from 2,500 KL to 8,000 KL. The capacity of our edible oil terminal is 40,000 KL." |
"We have recently developed the country's first bulk storage tank of the specialty chemical MDI at our Kandla terminal. The group had signed a long-term business agreement, in November 2006, with Dow International, one of the biggest chemical manufacturers in the world. We have recently received the MDI cargo safely in the tank." |
"The Kiran Group is planning to expand its storage capacity by constructing new state of art tank terminals with a capacity of approx 2.0 Million Metric Tones per Annum with facilities like drumming, heating, nitrogen blanketing, rail wagon loading and other specialised services with approx Rs 100 crore of investment. For this, the company has already acquired land at Kandla Port with an investment of Rs 24 crore," Gupta said. |
