Kirloskar Electric Company has bagged an order from the Indian Railways, albeit a small one compared to its own quarterly revenue.
The company has got orders for systems which will be used in the Rajdhani and Shatabdi trains, according to an exchange notification.
“….the Company has received a prestigious order….worth Rupees 9 crores from Indian Railways for execution on a turnkey basis for design, manufacture, supply, installation & Commissioning in power cars of Rajdhani/Shatabdi trains,” said the exchange notification.

“….The DG sets supply power to the Air conditioners, lighting in the coaches as well as hotel loads in the pantry power car of the train,” it added.
The company had quarterly revenue of Rs 199.84 crore in the December quarter. March quarter results are yet to be declared.
The stock was up 8.64% to close at Rs 23.25 on the BSE.
The company supplies motors to the power generation, transmission & distribution, transportation, and renewable energy, according to its website.
Its products include AC Motors, AC Generators, DC Motors, DG sets, Electronics, Switchgear, Traction and TransformeRs
It had acquired Lloyd Dynamowerke, a specialist German Motor and Generator company in 2008.
