KK Birla group factory ransacked

Top officials of the KK Birla group's Govind Sugar Mills in Lakhimpur were assaulted by hoodlums on Monday.
 
A Samajawadi Party MLA has been alleged by the employees of the mill to have had a hand in this. The workers have gone on strike demanding the arrest of the MLA. The MLA, however, denied the charges.
 
The hoodlums allegedly thrashed the executive president, PK Saini, executive vice-president, Naurang Singh, deputy cane manager, Daljit Singh, and several others. All of them were injured.
 
The district administration has deployed PAC jawans at the mill. Six persons have been arrested.The district police on Monday night lodged an FIR against the MLA.Saini said the interests of the MLA were hurt by the transfers of clerks manning the 44 cane collection centers.
