Home matches of the Kochi franchise of the Indian Premier League (IPL) T20 event will be held in Kerala itself as the state government and the Kerala Cricket Association (KCA) have decided to providing necessary facilities, including setting up a stadium.

A majority of the home matches of the Kochi team in the next edition of IPL are likely to be held in Kochi and the rest might be in Thiruvananthapuram.

A delegation of the Rendezvous Sports World Ltd (RSWL), the owners of the Kochi team, held discussions with the chief minister, sports minister and KCA officials yesterday.

Earlier, there were reports that the home matches would be held in Ahmedabad because of the non-availability of a proper cricket stadium in Kerala. Chief Minister V S Achuthanandan has asked RSWL to submit a detailed report of its demands regarding organising the home matches of the franchise.

He assured that the government would provide necessary facilities to help conduct the matches without any difficulty.
