BS Reporter Lucknow
Kolkata-based Senco Gold and Diamonds is bullish on the jewellery market in Uttar Pradesh, especially Varanasi.

Varanasi caters well to both neighbouring districts of eastern Uttar Pradesh and Bihar.

“Buyers from 18 districts of Uttar Pradesh and eight districts of Bihar converge to Varanasi for shopping, especially during the wedding season. This is the segment which we want to capture.” company’s Executive Director Suvankar Sen told Business Standard here.

He said Senco’s artistic designs would also tie up with the world famous and artistic Banarasi sari.

Meanwhile, Senco has launched its second outlet in Lucknow and the third outlet in the state would be opened in Varanasi soon, he said. Another store would be launched in Meerut in the western region.

He said Senco’s diamond, gold, platinum and silver jewellery captured the rich legacy of Kolkata's craftsmanship in design and intricate patterns. Senco has now over 60 stores in India.

The new Lucknow showroom houses over 5,000 product designs of gold, diamond, platinum, silver, costume jewellery & astral gems.

Senco Gold is the largest retail chain in eastern India and covers around 80,000 sq ft in the country. Its export operations span the United States, the United Kingdom, Singapore and West Asia.

It has a manufacturing unit in a special economic zone Manikanchan, which employs 300 artisans and creates half-million pieces of jewellery every year.
