Konaseema Gas Power Limited (Konaseema), promoted by the VBC Group, has commenced power generation from its combined cycle power plant located near Ravulapalem from March 10.
The 460 Mw gas-based plant started generating 100 Mw of power with limited quantities of natural gas made available by the state government, and fed into the state grid through its dedicated 400 kv transmission system of APTransco.
With the availability of natural gas from D-6 gas well in KG Basin of Reliance Industries Limited from the middle of next month, Konaseema will continuously generate power to its full capacity. The plant is located close to the landfall point of RIL, within a radius of 15 km from the KG Basin, a company release said.
The plant was constructed by Larsen & Toubro Limited with gas turbines from Siemens, Germany, and Steam Turbine from LMZ Energy, Russia, at a cost of Rs 2,035 crore.
