KPIT Cummins partners with Sankalp for semiconductor business

Pune-based KPIT Cummins, a product engineering and IT consulting firm has announced that it has carved out its semiconductor hardware solutions business in partnership with Sankalp Semiconductor Pvt Ltd in Hubli, Karnataka, an analog and mixed-signal and RF semiconductor service provider, which has formed a wholly-owned subsidiary named, Sankalp & KPIT Semiconductor Pvt Limited. KPIT Cummins will take a strategic minority stake in the parent Sankalp Semiconductor, KPIT said in a statement.

As a result of this partnership, KPIT Cummins will provide business scalability services experienced in driving global operations, process management and market relationships to the new entity, while Sankalp Semiconductor will add position itself as preferred Analog & Mixed Signal (AMS) service provider and execute projects through an Offshore Development Centre (ODC) model.

 

“Semiconductor design competency is key to KPIT Cummins’ product engineering services portfolio and we are happy to find a complementary partner. Sankalp Semiconductor is a leader in semiconductor design for our focus industries including automotive, and also has strong capabilities in the consumer electronics space. With this our joint customers will get access to one of the largest semiconductor hardware design practices and superior Analog & Mixed Signal design (AMS) expertise”, said Pankaj Sathe, senior vice president and head Semiconductor Solutions Group, KPIT Cummins. According to KPIT Cummins, the new entity will be one of the world’s largest AMS design services provider, with best design capabilities, catering to top North American, European and Japanese semiconductor companies and their captive centers in India, with primary focus on automotive, consumer electronics, and computing and communications industries.

With this strategic transaction Sankalp Semiconductor now has a large design capacity and a strong base of qualified semiconductor design specialists,” said Vivek Pawar, CEO, Sankalp Semiconductor.
