Chhattisgarh government had instituted inquiry into the alleged land encroachment by KSK Mahanadi power plant - an entity of KSK Energy Ventures - setting a mega facility in Janjgir-Champa district.
"The state government had received the complaint that land of two tribals had been encroached by the company," state's revenue minister Prem Prakash Pandey said in the Chhattisgarh Legislative Assembly today. An inquiry to be conducted by the Tehsildar had been ordered, he added. The issue was raised by Leader of Opposition T S Singhdeo in the state assembly. He charged that the state government received the complaint against the company in 2011 but no action was taken. "It appeared that the authorities were giving protection to the company," Singhdeo said. The KSK Energy Ventures is setting up a 3600-Mw power plant near Nariyara village in Janjgir-Champa district-about 150 km from the state capital.
