Kufner plans base in City

Kufner, a Munich-based textile company specialising in development and production of interlinings for all applications in the clothing industry sees umpteen opportunities in India in the post quota era.
 
The company is planning to establish a limited liability firm in India with a warehousing capability and technical studios both based in Bangalore. At present the company has a technical studio in Chennai.
 
The company expects these operations will help it achieve business volumes of $10 million in the next 2-3 years. Presently its has $1.5 million as revenues in India.
 
Noting that the main growth areas in the past in India have been the menswear and ladieswear sector, Dominic Kufner, managing director, Kufner said that the company will focus on making a comprehensive range of top quality interlining products.
 
On setting up a manufacturing base in India, Kufner said, "It is always a possibility. As volumes grow, we will consider that." The company, at present, is focussed on completing a unit in China.
 
Kufner said that for setting up a manufacturing base we need a minimum sales of 20 million metres of interlining per year. The company presently has a topline of $120 million.
