L&T bags Rs 1,400 cr-contract from Abu Dhabi airport

Will develop a midfield terminal complex at the airport

Larsen & Toubro Construction, India’s largest construction company and a part of $13.5 billion turnover conglomerate L&T, said that it secured about Rs 1,400 crore order from Abu Dhabi Airpot in United Arab Emirates.

This is for the development of the prestigious Midfield Terminal Complex—an airside construction project for Abu Dhabi Airports Company PJSC, UAE.

The company that has capabilities in domains ranging from civil and mechanical to electrical and instrumentation engineering provides service for large industrial and infrastructure projects. It has backlog of orders worth Rs 1,21,000 crore spread across these domains.

It secured Rs 3,700 crore order in March across various business segments against worth Rs 1,504 crore order in February.
 

The largest order of Rs 1,986 crore in the month came from Building & Factories Business for construction of residential towers and commercial developments across India.

As Indian economy slows down the company is looking at opportunities abroad to chase growth and Middle East has been its preferred location due to proximity to India.

L&T led consortium had earlier bagged the design and development order for the New Salalah International Airport in the Sultanate of Oman for $764 million (Rs 3,452 crore) in 2010. L&T’s scope of works was be approximately $500 million (Rs 2,200 crore).
