L&T bags Rs 368cr order from China

Larsen & Toubro (L&T) has secured an order valued at Rs 368 crore ($82 million) from China-based Datang International Power Generation Company  for the supply of critical gasification equipment.

According to a  release issued by L&T to the BSE today, the company will supply three sets of gasification equipment for the coal-based olefin project in Duolun country, Inner Mongolia. "The equipment will be based on the reputed process technology of Shell Global Solutions," the release added.

L&T will complete the despatch of equipment by September 30, 2007, and depute engineers and skilled workforce to Duolun to complete assembly of the despatched sections by February 15, 2008, the release said.

With this contract, the cumulative order book of the company's heavy engineering division from China has exceeded $220 million.
