L&T bottom line soars 140% to Rs 377 crore

Larsen and Toubro (L&T), the country's largest engineering and construction company, reported above two-fold rise in its quarterly net profit as it got more orders.
 
Net profit in the June quarter grew 140 per cent to Rs 376.85 crore from Rs 157.13 crore in the comparable previous quarter, due to growth in the capital goods sector and quicker execution of orders.
 
Income from operations went up by 29.6 per cent to Rs 4,505.21 crore (Rs 3476.11 crore). The engineering and construction (E&C) segment, the main money spinner, grew 33 per cent to Rs 3,492 crore (Rs 2,619 crore).
 
E&C earned more than 77.51 per cent of its total revenues.
 
The electronics and electrical segment contributed 12 per cent of revenues at Rs 541 crore as the segment grew by 27.59 per cent year-on-year.
 
The company's machinery and industrial products segment grew by 25 per cent at Rs 422.71 crore thanks to increased activity in the industrial, infrastructural and construction sectors.
 
Order inflow during the quarter grew by 32 per cent at Rs 9,881 crore over the same period of the previous year.
 
The share of revenue from international operations constituted 15 per cent of the gross revenue pie at Rs 686 crore.
