L&T, Dubal ink deal for Rs 5,000cr alumina plant |

Larsen & Toubro (L&T) has entered into an understanding with Dubai Aluminium Company (Dubal), an aluminium major in Dubai, to set up an integrated bauxite mining-cum-alumina refinery project in Orissa. According to a release issued by L&T today, "the project involves setting up of a 1.4 million tonne per annum (MTPA), world-class alumina refinery, bauxite mine and associated infrastructure including a captive power plant, port facility, township and other utilities. L&T already has development rights to bauxite deposits and prospecting in Orissa. The refinery is expected to be commissioned in 2009. The project will be based on the latest technology and will incorporate state-of-the-art environment control systems."
