L&T Q3 net up 25% at Rs 604 cr

Larsen & Toubro (L&T), the engineering and construction giant, has posted 25.39 per cent growth in profit after tax (PAT) at Rs 604.11 crore in the third quarter when compared with Rs 481.79 crore in the same period last year.

Since L&T has registered an extra ordinary income of Rs 916.33 crore in the third quarter, which came from the sale of its concrete business, the net profit has jumped to Rs 1,520.44 crore, up by 215.18 per cent.

Total income has risen by 36.45 per cent to Rs 8,922.77 crore from Rs 6,539.41 crore.

 

The expenditure has increased by 37.65 per cent to Rs 7,835.74 crore in the December ended quarter. The company has paid Rs 307.27 crore as tax in the same period.

In a filing sent to the Bombay Stock Exchange, the engineering giant said it had procured fresh orders worth Rs 14,620 crore in the quarter under review against Rs 13,019 crore in the year-ago quarter. During the current Q3, the company's sales from international operations stood at 18.5% of total sales.

For the nine-month period ended December 31, 2008, L&T posted a 41% rise in sales at Rs 23,468 crore, while its profit after tax from normal operations (not considering extraordinary income) went up 30% to Rs 1,567 crore.
