L&T wins $198mn deal from Petronas

A consortium of Larsen & Toubro (L&T), Frankfurt-based Lurgi AG and Malaysian construction company KQKS has received an order from Petronas Penapisan (Melaka) Sdn Bhd for building a lube oil plant incorporating the two existing plant complexes owned by Petronas.

According to a release issued by L&T to the BSE today, the company's scope of work is valued at $198 million.

"The lube oil plant, which is to start operations in spring 2008 and will be the first of its kind in Malaysia, is to produce more than 2,000 cubic metre feedstock for lube oil production per day," the release added.

The construction of the plant will be carried out by local companies, L&T-ECC and KQKS Malaysia, the release added.
