Activists allegedly belonging to the Telangana Rashtra Samiti (TRS) today attacked the Lanco office at Jubilee Hills here. They hurled stones at the building facade and damaged the cars parked in front of the office.

Lanco belongs to the family members of Vijayawada Congress MP Lagadapati Rajagopal.

The attackers claimed that a TRS worker was hit by the MP’s car in Nizamabad district. They demanded the police to arrest the MP and his driver.

The incident occurred when external affairs minister and UPA sub-committee on Telangana chairman Pranab Mukherjee, Vijayawada MP Rajagopal and several others were going to Nizamabad to attend the 60th birthday celebrations of Pradesh Congress Committee president and rural development minister D Srinivas.

The TRS activists reportedly stopped the car in which Pranab Mukherjee was travelling and demanded the committee’s report.

It is said that Rajagopal’s car, which was in the same convoy, hit one TRS member and the news spread to the party office in Hyderabad. Following this, the Lanco office was attacked. TRS leaders maintained that the party was not responsible for the attack.

On the other hand, Rajagopal said the attack was politically motivated and TRS should compensate for damaging Lanco's property. The extent of loss is yet to be estimated.
