The Guru Hargobind Thermal Plant (GHTP) in Punjab was awarded the National Awards for Meritorious Performance in Power Sector for two consecutive years-2011-12 and 2012-13- on Tuesday.
The award was presented by Union Minister of State for Power Jyotiraditya Scindia in the award ceremony organised by Ministry of Power at Vigyan Bhawan, New Delhi. This was informed by K D Chaudhri, chairman and managing director of Punjab State Power Corporation Limited.
Giving details about the achievements of plant, Chaudhri said GHTP has shown excellent performance and huge savings have been made in terms of earning incentives by performing better than PSERC targets through meticulous planning.
He informed that during 2011-12, GHTP Lehra Mohabbat generated an ever highest 76,212 lakh units against the target of 68,370 lakh units set by Central Electricity Authority. Plant load factor of 94.31 per cent achieved by GHTP units was the highest among all state sector power plants of the country.
