Leadership key factor for HR Excellence: Soota

To achieve excellence in Human Resource, leadership needs to play a proactive role in communicating the vision and business values to employees of all levels.

This was stated by Mr Ashok Soota, Chairman & Managing Director, MindTree Consulting Pvt Ltd while participating in the CII(SR) HR Excellence Award function organized by the Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) recently in Chennai.

At the award function, Mr. Ashok Soota was presented the CII (Southern Region) Excellence Award for his company's Significant Achievement in HR practices. The award was presented to him by Mr R J Shahaney, Chairman, CII (SR) HR Excellence Award Jury & Chairman, Ashok Leyland Ltd.

Elaborating on the role of leadership, Mr Soota said that the leadership should articulate an ambitious, energizing shared vision through constant communication to employees for achieving total involvement and commitment at work. A joyous environment for people at work is also a key factor for HR excellence, he added.

He further said that the best HR practices at MindTree would help the company to transform as one among the top 20 globally admired companies by 2007.

Mr Prasad, T G C, General Manager (TQC) MindTree Consulting in his address said that a vision & commitment of leadership team together with a theme based approach towards creating systems and processes has made the company achieve excellence in HR.

Mr Shobana Kamineni, Chairperson, CII (Southern Region) in her address said that the CII (Southern Region) has instituted the HR Excellence Award with an objective of promoting excellence in HR practices among various industries in the Southern Region.

Mr J N Amrolia, Chairman, Human Resource & Industrial Relations Sub-Committee, CII (SR), in his address said that the applicant companies were assessed on parameters such as Leadership, Human resource strategies & practices, Employee education & Development, etc.

Six other companies "� Bharat Electronics Ltd., Bangalore, Indian Aluminium Company Ltd., Kerala, EID Parry (India) Ltd., Sugar Division, Chennai, ITC Limited, Guntur, WeP Peripherals Ltd., Bangalore and Roots Industries, Coimbatore - were presented with Certificates for Strong Commitment for HR Excellence at the function.
