Lear Corp lifts lockout

Lear Corporation has lifted the lockout at its Gonde unit, 25 kms from Nashik. This follows a successful talk with the workers.
 
Lear Corporation, one of the world's major automotive interior suppliers, had declared lockout at its Gonde unit on April 4, following differences between the company management and the workers.
 
The company reportedly claimed to have taken this action due to misbehaviour of the workers.
 
As per the talks between the management and the union, all workers will be taken on work and an internal workers' union will be suspended.
 
The new union, affiliated to the Bharatiya Kamgar Sena (BKS), will be operational there.
 
All 450 workers have also accepted the membership of the BKS.
 
Lear Corporation has its presence in India through its two companies, Lear Seating and Hanil Lear India Pvt Ltd. Lear has its Indian headquarter at Delhi.
 
Lear's three manufacturing facilities catering to the needs of their respective Original Equipment Manufacturers (OEMs), located at Halol, Gonde (Nashik) and Mumbai, manufacture seating systems and interiors for multi-utility vehicles (MUVs).
 
With an aim to meet the market demands, Lear is constructing its fourth facility in Ambad area of Maharashtra Industrial Development Corporation (MIDC) in Nashik.
 
Lear is the major seats and interior suppliers to the automotive major Mahindra & Mahindra (M&M). Lear is already catering seats and other interior requirements to M&M's utility vehicles 'Scorpio' and 'Bolero'.
 
Besides, Mahindra &Mahindra has also been awarded seats and interior contracts to Lear for its 'Logan' car project and forthcoming 'Ingenio' vehicle project, which include seating, instrument panels, floor consoles, trim and carpeting.
