Hospitality major the Leela group, is eyeing Rs 700-crore revenue by FY 2012 when its three new upcoming hotels in Chennai, Delhi (NCR) and Agra would become fully operational, a top company official told PTI yesterday.

"We are expecting a revenue-generation of over Rs 700-crore by 2012-13 after the commissioning of our three hotels in Chennai, Delhi and Agra," Chairman of the group, Captain C P Krishnan Nair, said.

The Delhi and Chennai hotels are expected to become operational in FY 2011, while the one in Agra would be commissioned in fiscal 2012-13, Nair said.

The Group's 'The Leela Kempinski' brand is spread out in Goa, Kerala, Udaipur, Mumbai, Bangalore and Gurgaon while the one in Delhi is expected to start functioning in coming months.

"We want to ensure that the Leela Kempinski in Delhi is operational before the Commonwealth Games," Capt Nair said.

The Group is also planning to open hotels in Pune, Jaipur, Hyderabad and Kolkata. "I want to set up hotels practically in all the principal towns of India. We will be making all the necessary provisions for setting up these projects," he said, adding that the Pune was their next likely destination.

A hotel along the Delhi-Mumbai Industrial Corridor (DMIC) was also on the priority list.

Nair said that the hospitality industry in India should also be given 'infrastructure status'.

"There is a huge scope for infrastructure development in India. If the hotel industry is given infrastructure status, there would be a huge investment in the same from outsiders too. Besides, we would be able to get long-term loans easily," Nair said.
